On Monday, July 18th, Leeds Fire & Rescue organized a training scenario involving the Technical Rescue and Dive Teams as well as personnel from Pell City PD Dive Team, Pell City Fire, Talladega PD, and Moody Fire. This training was held at the Leeds Fire & Rescue Dive Training Facility. The training included the search / recovery of a body submerged within a vehicle in 40 feet of water. The technical rescue team then performed an operation that included hoisting the body up a 80 ft cliff.
The scenario was a tremendous success thanks to all personnel involved. Television crews from Fox 6, CBS 42, and ABC 33/40 were given an up close look at the operation. Please click the below links for the news coverage of the event. CBS 42 Fox 6 ABC 33/40 |
Leeds Fire & Rescue personnel performed RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) training this week utilizing the Alabama Fire College Burn Trailer. This type of training is designed to enhance rescue skills in the event a fellow firefighter requires rescue. These simulations are performed in extreme heat and fire-like conditions in order to provide a realistic environment. We would like to extend a special thanks to Lt. Kyle Shell and Fire Medic Kyle McKinney for overseeing the training evolutions.
